Where Workplace Wellness Is Needed Most

The Piedmont Triad is home to 1.7 million residents and more than 815,000 workers across Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, and surrounding communities. It's a thriving economic hub with 900,000 jobs, major employers like FedEx, Honda Aircraft, Atrium Health, and Cone Health—and a workforce facing a silent health crisis.

SERVING THE PIEDMONT TRIAD REGION
The Regional Reality

Research from the 2022 PLACES dataset reveals significant disparities in diabetes and obesity prevalence across Piedmont Triad neighborhoods, with clear divisions between communities on opposite sides of major city downtowns. Access to healthy food varies dramatically by neighborhood, directly correlating with chronic disease rates.

815,000+ Workers at Risk

More than 815,000 people are available to work in the Piedmont Triad—that's hundreds of thousands of professionals experiencing afternoon energy crashes and workplace stress daily.

$10.9 Billion Annual Cost OF DIABETES IN NC

Diabetes and prediabetes cost North Carolina $10.9 billion each year, with 13.1% of adults diagnosed—that's over 228,000 Triad residents based on regional population.

Cardiovascular Disease Costs 60 Hours Per Employee

An employee with CVD loses nearly 60 hours of productivity per year and costs employers over $1,100 annually—with prevalence highest among workers ages 45-64, the Triad's largest demographic.

Food Access Disparities Drive Health Inequity

Research shows dramatic differences in proximity to healthy food across Triad census tracts, with clear correlations between food access and diabetes/obesity prevalence—making workplace nutrition hubs essential.

Behind every statistic is a workforce struggling with preventable health challenges—and employers losing productivity, talent, and money. Here's why Fresh Fuel's integrated nutrition and wellness solution isn't just nice to have in the Triad—it's essential.
